Title: Morphological profiling in human neuronal cells for translational medicine and drug discovery

Morphological profiling has become a transformative tool in translational medicine and drug discovery, particularly for investigating complex cellular responses in human neuronal cells. By leveraging high-throughput imaging and advanced machine learning techniques, this approach allows for the detailed characterization of cellular morphology at single-cell resolution, enabling the identification of phenotypic changes in response to genetic or pharmacological perturbations. In this presentation, we will explore the application of morphological profiling in human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neuronal models, a critical platform for studying neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases. We will discuss how integrating morphological data with multi-OMICS and functional profiling can provide a more comprehensive understanding of neuronal function and dysfunction. Additionally, we will highlight recent advancements in computational methods, including deep learning-based image analysis, and how these innovations are accelerating the discovery of novel therapeutics by elucidating mechanisms of action, guiding drug repurposing, and enabling precision medicine approaches. This presentation will demonstrate the potential of morphological profiling as a powerful tool for bridging the gap between basic neuroscience research and clinical applications, offering new avenues for the development of targeted therapies in neurological disorders.
